Somerset has a winner with this one. Although a North American product, this Hickory has the look of an exotic. Beautiful blonde colors mixed with pecan browns, it is a real show stopper. This is a unwarranted Cabin Grade, but is not typical of a cabin grade. It has long boards and few imperfections other than what is common in this wood. What it does have are some boards that are slightly narrower and some that are slightly wider and will cause you to have some minor "side" cracks that may require filler or need to be culled out. We also found that the tongue and groove milling to be tight requiring a little more effort to put together, but they do go. One customer had a few boards that had slight saw marks in them, so it is not perfect.
The main thing to keep in mind with this wood is if you were to buy the same wood in an unfinished, you can expect to pay nearly double, so if you get this and decide to just sand it down and refinish it, you are still miles ahead. Just a thought
